HALMARK FAMILIES

Wow I must be bored when I start to write about mundane stuff but actually this is not that.
I dislike this time of year because to many play at being the perfect Halmark Family. They really dislike each other and unfortunately in these couple of weeks it all comes out.I wonder how many relationships are ruined during this time.Things get rehashed that happened zillions of hrs. ago and who bought the cheapest gift or cooked the worst meal shouldn't matter.  Then one word leads to another and we are of and running. To all those who are believers not very worthy oh well just thought I would throw out this thought and maybe a few will be honest and join in the conversation.

EDGE OF SOCIETY

This is not a nice subject this time of year.Widows and Widowers are 'the edge of society',having been to several holiday gatherings this season I have noticed to many of us are being shunned to the edge--as a woman I feel it from that side we are made fun of and suspect of wanting to take the married couples hubby LOL so next party we are not asked, so after a while we are alone sad.
Widows Walk

when your alone .....
When you lose your partner you are truly alone in today's society.

Diego Rivera (In Spanish: Diego María de la Concepción Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodríguez. December 8, 1886 – November 24, 1957) was a prominent Mexican painter and husband of Frida Kahlo (1929–1939 and 1940–1954). His large wall works in fresco helped establish the Mexican Mural Movement in Mexican art . Between 1922 and 1953, Rivera painted murals among others in Mexico City , Chapingo , Cuernavaca , San Francisco, Detroit , and New York City.[1] In 1931, a retrospective exhibition of his works was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

ART SUNDY--HENRI MATISSE-

The great French modernist Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was not a joiner. In the early 20th century he led the brief blitz of the Fauves — those “wild beasts” of fiery colors and blunt textures — but otherwise abstained from the signal movements of modern art.

ART SUNDAY-PRERAPHAELITS--

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (also known as the Pre-Raphaelites) was a group of English painters, poets, and critics, founded in 1848 by William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The three founders were soon joined by William Michael Rossetti, James Collinson, Frederic George Stephens and Thomas Woolner to form a seven-member "brotherhood".
The group's intention was to reform art by rejecting what they considered to be the mechanistic approach first adopted by the Mannerist artists who succeeded Raphael and Michelangelo. They believed that the Classical poses and elegant compositions of Raphael in particular had been a corrupting influence on the academic teaching of art, hence the name "Pre-Raphaelite". In particular, they objected to the influence of Sir Joshua Reynolds, the founder of the English Royal Academy of Arts, whom they called "Sir Sloshua". To the Pre-Raphaelites, according to William Michael Rossetti, "sloshy" meant "anything lax or scamped in the process of painting ... and hence ... any thing or person of a commonplace or conventional kind". In contrast, they wanted to return to the abundant detail, intense colours, and complex compositions of Quattrocento Italian and Flemish art.
The Pre-Raphaelites have been considered the first avant-garde movement in art, though they have also been denied that status, because they continued to accept both the concepts of history painting and of mimesis, or imitation of nature, as central to the purpose of art. However, the Pre-Raphaelites undoubtedly defined themselves as a reform-movement, created a distinct name for their form of art, and published a periodical, The Germ, to promote their ideas. Their debates were recorded in the Pre-Raphaelite Journal.
